For this project, I explore the borders of visual nourishment. Can we be fed through the eyes? To what degree can we achieve satiety through visual absorption? These are the questions I ask as I play with color and light. Inspired by the euphoric quality of visuals experienced on psychedelic drugs, in virtual reality, or in movie theaters, I seek to define the boundaries of visual nourishment. My experiments with mirrors, lenses, and the properties and light and color test these boundaries in a journey to discover a universality in pleasing visuals. "I could watch this forever" is a statement needed to be said of the finished product.

Final Statement: I followed my Projection project by another live performance/ephemeral artwork. My final installation was much similar to the preliminary video you see above, except for an addition of color. My set up was this: I held a flashlight and aimed it at an angled concave mirror. In between the beam and the mirror, I held a glass paint which I had drawn on with multicolored acrylic paint and dry erase markers. The final projection resided upon the ceiling, and it moved as I moved the flashlight, the pane, and the mirror. I moved my hands like a puppeteer, and the projection on the ceiling twisted and turned within itself. I looked up at the projection as I moved my hands, and I learned which hands movements elicited which transformations. I based the movements of my hands with an objective of creating an interesting animation, or visual nourishment. The project is truly meant for an in person experience. In this installation I used my bedroom desk and ceiling, but the project would flourish in a larger, more controlled space.
