This tutorial will be for how to add effects in After Effects to a still image.

1. First you drag the image into the timeline into a video track and shorten the image to about 10 seconds.

2. Then you drag in an effect from the video effects panel. Two good effects to start with are Ripple under Distortion effects or Light Rays under Generate Effects.

3. For either effect, first make sure the time slider in the timeline is set to 0, or all the way to the left. Then click the stop watch to create the first keyframe.

4. Next, drag the slider a few frames forward and drag the position values of the effect up or down. If you drag the slider back to 0 and press space, you will see the effect moving around.

5. Repeat the process with as many key frames or with whatever position values you choose.
