I was really glad I stumbled upon the artwork of Trevor Jones. He considers himself a traditional painter, but he combines his paintings with technology. He paints QR codes or integrates augmented reality with his artwork. I find this intersection of traditional and digital art very interesting and exciting. I consider myself a painter first and a digital artist second mainly because I consider art making a physical release of energy, and I can achieve that more with brushstrokes than mouse clicks. However, like I found out by animating my paintings and looking at Trevor Jones' artwork, there are so many unique ways to combine digital art with traditional mediums, especially as technology is such a rapidly expanding field. I really enjoy working with projectors and light and color, so it is exciting to realize how I can combine traditional mediums with these aforementioned aspects. Just as the term "art" can be applied to almost anything, I believe "digital art" as a term is becoming able to be applied to more and more pieces of work.
